How to Use TCBib

Getting Started

As you learn TCBib, keep this how-to page open in a separate window, or print the page.

Click Search in the middle of the homepage. The
Search box opens. To enter more than one search term, click Add Line.
You can build up to 7 lines in your query. Apply Boolean logic (AND, OR, NOT) as you add conditions.

Note: You can use the * and ? wildcards within queries. Searches are case-insensitive.

Searching

  1. All: Enter a single word or a phrase you’d like
to search for. This applies your query to all four search fields.
  2. Author: Enter the last name(s) of one or more
    authors.
  3. Title: Enter one or more words that must be in
    the titles of articles.
  4. Subject: Enter (a) one or more words OR (b) a
term from our dropdown list of Subjects OR (c) the numerical code for a subject, also found in our
    dropdown list of Subjects.
  5. Source: Enter either (a) one or more words in the
title of a publication OR (b) the abbreviation of its title, found in the dropdown list of Sources.
  6. Year(s): (You must first enter something into any
of the above four boxes.) Enter either (a) a single year OR (b) two years separated by a space, hyphen,
    or comma.
