Our interview project is just getting underway. Video recordings of interviews will be available here in the coming months. Many will also be available in the form of edited transcripts. We are in the early stages of launching three interview series: the WAC Oral Histories Project, the Emerging Voices Series, and the Featured Scholars Series. Our interviews will be presented in the form of videos with closed captions and as edited transcripts.

The WAC Oral Histories Project

The WAC Oral Histories Project is in its early stages. As we work on the project, video recordings will be made available here. All videos will be closed captioned. They will also be available in the form of edited transcripts. Information about each author will be provided to provide context for their careers and contributions (many of which are ongoing) to writing across the curriculum.

We are currently inviting nominations for the series. Self-nominations are encouraged.

The Emerging Voices Series

The Emerging Voices Series, a collection of interviews from scholars who are currently making and remaking the field of writing studies broadly conceived, is designed to continue preserving the stories of our field, particularly as they pertain to the writing and writing processes of the teachers, researchers, and scholars who make up our discipline. The series, edited by Zak Muñoz, provides insights into the embodied experience of writing in our discipline, guiding newcomers as they seek to make a home in the field and providing information about new and potentially critical developments in writing studies.

We are currently inviting nominations for the series. Self-nominations are encouraged.

The Featured Scholars Series

The Featured Scholars Series focuses on scholars who have made significant and enduring contributions to WAC and, more broadly, to the field of writing studies. It is designed to continue preserving the stories of our field, particularly as they pertain to the writing and writing processes of the teachers, researchers, and scholars who make up our discipline.

I have been a competitive cyclist for over two decades and am, as my teammates would no doubt testify, no stranger to falling off bikes at high speed. This was different. When you sign on at a road race, you acknowledge and accept the risks. Nobody wants to crash, but in bunch racing it is an inevitability that accidents will happen from time to time, and occasionally they can have serious consequences. When you are casually riding to work, wearing normal everyday clothes and simply trying to go about your everyday life, it seems quite unreasonable that you should have to embrace the same level of danger. Yet, as this event made me all too aware, that is the reality for anyone who dares to adopt anything other than the motor vehicle as their means of transport in South Yorkshire. Since the crash, I have constantly had in the back of my mind how the tiniest change in circumstances could have led to a completely different outcome. What if the car had been an SUV with a higher bonnet, or manoeuvred slightly differently? What if I did not have a bicycle with hydraulic disc brakes or failed to instinctively steer towards the front of the car?
