About the Editors
Adriana Bolívar is Professor of Linguistics and Discourse studies at Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV). She holds an M. Phil in Education by the University of London and a Ph. D. in Linguistics by the University of Birmingham (UK). Her research and publications cover systemic functional grammar, text linguistics, descriptive and critical discourse analysis, sociopragmatics, impoliteness, academic and professional discourse, political discourse and dialogue analysis. She is founder of the Latin American Association of Discourse studies and Coordinator of the UNESCO Chair for reading and writing in Latin America at UCV.
Rebecca Beke (1945-2016) was Professor of Applied Linguistics at Universidad Central de Venezuela. She earned her Master of Arts by the University of New Yok and a Ph.D. in Discourse Studies by Universidad Central de Venezuela. Her research and publications cover academic discourse, metadiscourse in academic texts, grammar, reading and writing in English as a foreign language and Spanish as first language. She was coordinator and teacher of the Master´s degree in English as a Foreign Language and co-coordinator of the UNESCO Chair for reading and writing in Latin America at UCV.
